It's a little hard to believe but it's been over a year since Girls' Generation last released an album. Aside from the special ninth anniversary SM STATION track "Sailing" earlier this year, the girls have been busy doing other things, such as solo albums and hitting up dance shows. So when can we expect to see the group again, or even if we'll see them again?
Well, if recent comments from Taeyeon and Yoona are to be believed, it appears that a Girls' Generation comeback is in the works!
During the recent Chuseok special of "Weekly Idol", MC Heechul called up Taeyeon for a chat, and the conversation eventually turned towards a new Girls' Generation album. Rather than deny or confirm anything, Taeyeon replied with a simple "We're continuously preparing", suggesting that something is in the works:
Taeyeon didn't really reveal anything on "Weekly Idol", but Yoona dropped the strongest hint of a comeback on a recent live stream for tvN's Taxi Talk Show.
Towards the end of the stream, the topic of Girls' Generation's return came up, to which Yoona said "SNSD is currently preparing and waiting for a good timing to show it". When asked whether their comeback will be within a year, Yoona replied that it is "likely", but when asked if it will be within six months, Yoona kept her cards close to her chest with a simple "I'm not so sure".
(YoonA comments about Girls' Generation's comeback at around the 30:50 mark)
Of course, nothing is set in stone until SM Entertainment confirm (or deny) these comments from Taeyeon and Yoona. However, if Girls' Generation are indeed prepping for a comeback "within a year" (and evidence definitely suggests so), it sounds like they will return in 2017, just in time for the 10th anniversary of their debut.
Coincidence? We think not!
Do you want a Girls' Generation comeback soon?
