Korea is just one market for K-pop artists and Korean stars, and many branch out to other countries in order to further their career. Thanks to some new popularity rankings from Sina's Star Ranking Charts and the Baidu Charts, we now know who is hot in China!
Starting with Sina's Star Ranking chart, which calculates the 100 most popular celebrities in China using search rankings, media exposure, and publicity, EXO's Lay, f(x)'s Victoria, and G-Dragon rank high up on the list at 9th, 18th, and 22nd respectively. Also of note are EXO's Sehun and GOT7's Jackson, both of whom are moving up the list at 46th and 49th respectively.
Moving onto the Baidu Charts, which is based on live searches from Baidu (i.e China's Google) and is categorised by genre and gender, the rankings differ quite a bit to Sina's chart.
The most popular Korean actresses rankings is lead by Girls' Generation's YoonA (undoubtedly due to her popular drama "God of War, Zhao Yun"), followed by Victoria, Song Hye-kyo, and f(x)'s Krystal. As for the most popular Korean idols, the list remains largely unchanged, with YoonA at No. 1 followed by Victoria, Krystal, and Jessica Jung.
For the Korean actors ranking, the list is lead by Song Joong-ki, followed by Lee Jong-suk, Ji Chang-wook, and Lee Jun-ki. As for the most popular male Korean idols, it is dominated by EXO and its members, with Lay easily topping the chart followed by all of EXO and Sehun. Rounding out the top four is - surprisingly - Running Man's Kim Jong-kuk, perhaps due to his gentle-giant demeanor!
