AKB48 recently held its 7th Annual Janken Tournament, and while Miku Tanabe made headlines by winning the competition, the biggest surprise of the night was the announcement of a new AKB48 sister group!

Named STU48, the group was revealed via an announcement video at the tournament and are scheduled to debut in the summer of 2017. STU48 will set itself apart from its other sister groups by being the first group to be based in the Seto Inland Sea rather than a city. Additionally, rather than having its own land-based theater, the group will hold its performances on a ship that sails throughout the Seto Inland Sea.
