The last few weeks have seen the world be swept up in a ridiculous (yet hilarious) new craze involving pens, pineapples, and apples. That's right, we're talking about the comedy song "Pen Pineapple Apple Peri" (aka "PPAP") from Piko Taro (aka comedian and singer-songwriter DJ Kosaka Daimaou), and as a testament to its popularity, the "PPAP" video was the most viewed MV in the world last week!

According to Oricon, the song was ranked No.1 for the week of 9/30 to 10/6 on YouTube, making it the most viewed MV in the world, and Daimaou the first Japanese artist to achieve this. In the few weeks or so since the MV's release, it has already been viewed a whopping 134 million times (including related and reuploaded videos), and has managed to topple videos from big name artists such as Twenty One Pilots and Ariana Grande

Needless to say, Piko Taro is quite surprised at the popularity of his song and he took to Twitter to express his shock:

For those few who haven't seen the video (or those who want to see it yet again), here is the infamous "Pen Pineapple Apple Pen" video:
