Donald Trump's victory in yesterday's 2016 US Presidential Election came as a shock and surprise to many who were following its events.

Following the announcement of Trump's victory, many Korean netizens expressed their opinions and concerns online, some of which related to Korea's own political chaos (English translations are under the comments):

"Leave it be. Trump supporters will be so embarrassed that they won't be able to lift their heads up in 4 years. If you want to see what Trump supporters might look like in 4 years, come to Korea (referring to the Park supporters in the recent scandal)."

"I hear the poor, white population supported Trump. They are confused. Trump was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, so do you think he can understand poor people and at least have any interest in them? It's a foolish decision, choosing Trump."

"Cannot believe a racist, sexist, and rich old man became the president of the world..."

While many offered their concerns over the US election results, some Koreans approached the news with humour and satire, which lightened the mood:

"We will pretend like we didn't see that, so elect again."

"Swiss doctor: Why are you guys here?

- "I am American."

- "I am Korean."

Doctor: I get it."

"As a citizen of a Shamanistic nation, we need to do this for the world..."

"Korean: Park Geun Hye would never get elected, no way, lol

British: Brexit would never happen, no way, lol

American: Trump would never get elected, no way, lol

Impossible is nothing."
