With celebrities and artists everywhere expected to attend and awesome live showcases an almost-guarantee, the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) is one of the most high-profile K-pop award ceremonies of the year. However, if a new report is to be believed, it appears that the 2016 event will miss out on a number of big-name K-pop groups and stars from YG Entertainment.
According to Star News, YG Entertainment officials have stated that due to scheduling conflicts, the company's artists will reportedly not attend the 2016 MAMAs, which will be held on December 2 at the Asia World Expo in Hong Kong. It remains to be seen whether YG's artists will indeed skip the 2016 MAMAs.
While a number of YG artists have been nominated for multiple awards at this year's MAMAs, this announcement isn't too surprising, given that BIGBANG have a concert on the day of the event, as well as preparations for their upcoming comeback on December 12, and other YG artists like PSY and Sechs Kies are all reportedly prepping for their own comebacks. As for Black Pink, the rookie group recently returned with two new title tracks "Playing With Fire" and "Stay" and conflicts arose between their comeback schedule and the 2016 MAMAs event.
What do you think about YG Entertainment potentially missing out on the 2016 MAMAs?
