Because it's hot and you deserve good things.

Summer is definitely here in Australia and so are those holiday feelings!

But what if they're not? 2016 hasn't been easy for anyone, not least fans of anime and Asian pop. The only way to celebrate and ensure that you're definitely in the right mood at the end of 2016 is to, of course, watch absolutely no anime.

PSYCH!

Here's a list. You're welcome.

1. Haikyuu!

Go team, do the thing! Win the points!

A sports anime that centers around the volleyball team of Karasuno High.

I know, you're thinking "Sports anime? In the middle of summer? and also SPORTS?" Look, I'm not a huge sportsball fan and for the longest time, that was my reason for not getting into sports anime. I was wrong, dear reader, so wrong.

Not only will sportsball rules be explained to you, you'll watch journeys of ambition and friendship intertwined and unfolding before you.

If volleyball is just a little too much on the hot summer days (not to mention the summer ni....ights), then check out Free! Which is a swimming sports anime.

2. Tanaka-Kun is always Listless

Tanaka-kun just wants to sleep, don't we all?

This anime will make you sleepy. I fell asleep five times while writing this article, though that might say more about this article....

A slice-of-life anime with very little drama and angst, Tanaka-Kun is always Listless is perfect for anyone looking to relax as you follow Tanaka-kun and his never ending quest to find the perfect level of listlessness. The side characters are fun to watch, but this is never going to be a show that has you on the edge of your seat, which is a nice change.

3. My Love Story!!

What would happen if the side character's romance story was told?

Takeo Gouda is always the side character to the best looking guy in school Sunakawa . He falls for girls, confesses to them, but they always end up being in love with his best friend. One day he meets Rinko and things begin to change.

There's are highs and lows in this story, but mostly it's sweet moments that will make you think love is not a terrible emotion.

4. Chi's Sweet Home

A kitten loses her mum, but finds a home.

And then you get to watch an anime about a kitten being a kitten.

If this doesn't convince you to watch it, I'm not sure what will.

5. Orenchi no Furo Jijō

A merman moves into a guy's bathtub.

Each episode is about 4 minutes long, so it's a great quick fix of make-feel-good feels. There's some risque stuff in there, but nothing that watching most anime hasn't prepared you for already. It's super cute and doesn't take itself too seriously.

Bath time will never be the same again.

6. Barakamon

A calligrapher has to move to a small village after he punches a gallery owner who wasn't impressed with his work.

This is another slightly risque anime (at least in the subbed version) but it's already won my heart in the first few episodes. Maybe it's because the story, setting and sound effects were just enough to make me think of Harvest Moon, I've instantly loved this series. Having said that, it's also sweet, has toilet humour, and there's a lesson in this for all of us. The lesson I took away had to do with toilet humour being incredibly funny, but there's probably other, deeper, lessons in there as well. Probably.

7. Yuri On Ice

One of the biggest hits in the anime world this year, Yuri on Ice is all the things that you need and deserve. It features a lot of ice (the hint is in the title) which is great for those hot summer days (and also summer nights). Tell me more, you say, okay I will.

Yuri is a Japanese figure skater who just can't seem to get it right.

Victor is a world renowned figure skater who can do no wrong, who decides to train Yuri.

Not only is it a fun and flirty story about attraction and achieving your goals, it's also beautifully animated, so expect a visual treat for your eyeballs.

I hope these anime make you happy, or at least fool your brain into thinking it's cold, over the summer holiday season.

What will you be watching?
