Finally our 2D loves are becoming 3D....

If 2016 was the year of the Pokémon, then 2017 will be the year of the Live Action.

With official news that Naruto will be made into a live action, our fates next year will forever be intwined with the paths of our favourite 2D people becoming 3D.

So, let's look forward to 2017 to the five live actions we can't wait for...

1. Ghost In The Shell

If you listen to the What The Frak podcast - please listen to What The Frak! They keep telling me “If you don't get more downloads, we'll take away your dolls” and I keep telling them, they're ACTION FIGURES - then you know my views on Ghost In The Shell. If you haven't listened, I'll admit I am not the biggest fan of this adaption. But, it does look like it will be visually stunning and is taking a lot of its cues from the originals.

2. Death Note

We already HAVE Death Note live actions...Okay, okay I won't be grumpy. Another Death Note television series could be a good thing.

3. Full Metal Alchemist

I would have traded an arm and a leg for this live action to be made, but I didn't need to (phew).

Seriously though, if this fist bump sequence isn't in the live action I'm going to be pretty disappointed.

4. Gintama

You can't have a live action list without Masaki Suda being somewhere on the cast list. It's actually the law that he appear in at least one live action anime or manga adaptation a year (it's not the law, but I think it should be because he's a wonderful actor).

Plus that Trailer...

5. Tokyo Ghoul

This could either be amazing or just downright terrible. Masataka Kubota and Fumika Shimizu give me a bit more confidence in the project and I look forward to seeing them both on screen again.

Live action usually disappoint me. I fear that the only reason I gave a passing grade to Assassination Classroom is because Nino (from Arashi) is my bias. But, this list gives me hope!

What do you think? Will these live-actions live up to expectations? Or will they be like the live-action that we dare not speak of (it involved air bending)?
