Grace appeared on the huge music competition show ‘Unpretty Rapstar,’ and has since shot to fame as a, well, rap star. But, like with any success, her path hasn’t come without some challenges and learning along the way.

The rap star tells SBS PopAsia that she found parts of the competition show challenging, and also learnt a lot.

“The most difficult thing [about being on the show] was writing things on the spot, because it takes time to make songs and they force you to write something in an hour. Then perform within six hours,” she says.

“Everything’s 100 per cent real [on the show]. People think it’s made up or that it’s scripted but it’s really not.”

While Grace had her challenges on the show, she also learnt a lot from her experience and says ‘Unpretty Rapstars’ taught her one “big lesson.”

“I learnt to have more freedom on stage,” she says, “I had a lot of stage fright before that so forcing myself to be on stage really got me to open up.”

As for why she chose to pursue rapping…

“I always loved rapping…so when the chance came I just took it,” she says.
