Out of BTS' many outstanding qualities, one that particularly stands out is their constant online presence on various social media platforms. Well, it appears that all that time spent on Twitter has paid off because the boys have been nominated for a Shorty Award!
An annual awards show organised by Sawhorse Media, The Shorty Awards aims to recognise the best content on social media platforms, such as Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and more. Taking into account the work of an artist or organisation over a calendar year, Shorty Award winners are determined by a combination of online votes and scores from the Real Time Academy.
As for BTS, the group are up for an award in the "Music" category for their constant flow of social media content over the past year. Beyond the boys' music, the Shorty Awards recognises the group's strong presence on Twitter and Instagram, as well as their recent topping of the Billboard Social 50 Chart:
"Besides their catchy tunes and boyish good looks, BTS has got a strong Instagram presence with their concept photo sessions. But their Twitter game is even stronger, being named by Forbes as the most retweeted artist on the platform. And it doesn’t stop there! In November 2016, BTS made it to the top of the Billboard Social 50 list, a first for a K-pop band"
It remains to be seen who will emerge as the winner in this year's "Music" category as the list of nominees is filled with some impressive names, such as Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Chance the Rapper, Drake, Ingrid Michaelson, Mac Miller, Missy Elliott, Solange, Tegan & Sara, The 1975, and Twenty One Pilots.
Voting to determine the top six finalists in each category runs from January 17 to February 16 so if you haven't yet put in your Shorty Awards vote yet, be sure to do so right here!
