Blackjacks will remember January 20 as the day 2NE1 bid everyone farewell with their last single "Goodbye". But according to CL, the song was originally written for someone else and not meant as a farewell to fans.

In a new interview about 2NE1's farewell song, CL revealed that the lyrics for "Goodbye" were originally meant for Minzy but the song was adjusted when it was announced that the group was no more:

"“After Minzy left YG, the three of us were preparing for a new album. At the time, I wrote this song as if it was a letter to Minzy. I adjusted [the lyrics] so that it was a message to Minzy as well as a message to the fans at the same time.

[The first time] I heard this song, lyrics [about Minzy] just came to my mind and I cried. The lyrics pretty much came from my tears.”

CL also talked about her regrets surrounding 2NE1's disbandment, saying that while the disbandment was regrettable especially after being with her members for 10 years, she hopes that everyone will be able to move on through their own separate paths:

“I’ve known the members for 10 years. During that time, we made a lot of memories and worked on a lot of things together. I’m really going to miss them. But I believe that it was a reasoned decision. And even though it’s regrettable, I hope each of us is able to work our way through the separate paths we take."

We - and every Blackjack - will miss 2NE1 dearly, so let's bid them farewell by re-watching their awesome "Goodbye" MV:
