It goes without saying that dating in the K-pop world is a bit of a sensitive subject, particularly for those exceptionally popular groups and artists. According to K-pop group BESTie, there is a reason why dating is considered a bit of a touchy issue for K-pop idols.

In the latest episode of the Viceland series Noisey, Zach Goldbaum talked to the girls about a variety of topics, before bringing up the subject of how being an idol has affected their personal lives. Rather than shy away from the question, the BESTie members were forthright with their answers, revealing that their agency is not particularly keen on the girls having relationships.

According to BESTie, K-pop fans typically want idols to be their "boyfriends" or "girlfriends" and any rumours of idols being in relationships could jeopardise their popularity since they're no longer "available".
