Valentine's Day is a wonderful time of the year to celebrate love! But, what if the 3D world has let you down?
Never fear! As always, anime is here to save you! No matter what kind of person you like, anime has the type for you.
Here is a list of potential anime boyfriends and girlfriends for you, this Valentine's Day.
1. The Hot Head
Natsu, from Fairy Tail, isn't the smartest guy you'll meet. But his best friend is a flying cat, so you really can't go too wrong. He will fight for his friends and guild to the very end.
If Natsu is your anime boyfriend, he'll make the effort for you, even if it doesn't work out exactly as you thought it would. Though he does tend to eat fire.
Other Hot Heads you might like are: Naruto (from Naruto) and Black Star (from Soul Eater).
2. The Butler
Decim, from Death Parade, is a bartender who decides your fate in the afterlife. While not technically human, he truly wants to understand those he judges.
If Decim is your anime boyfriend, you'll have nothing to worry about. There will be no surprises with him and you know you'll always be looked after. Just....if he asks if you want to play a game, say no.
Other butler/bartender types you might like are: Sebastian (from Black Butler, but he's my boyfriend so...), Satan (from the Devil is a Part Timer) and ALL of Ouran High Host Club.
3. The Chunibyo
Rikka from Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions is stuck in her own fantasy world, but that's the beauty of Chunibyo characters! While she may be super cute she's also very strong, as a person.
If Rikka is your anime girlfriend, you might need to engage in battles with monsters you can't see and you're really going to have to learn about her world. But, what's wrong with seeing reality a little differently?
Other chunibyou characters you might like are: Shun Kaido (from The Disasterous Life of Saiki K) and Yohane from Love Live! Sunshine!)
4. The Warrior
Need to face down armies? Lieutenant Katalina from Granblue Fantasy is the one you need on your side.
If Katalina is your anime girlfriend, your dates will never be dull. There is an increased chance of mythical beasts trying to eat you, but at least you can say it's exciting!
Other warrior types you might like are: Erza (from Fairy Tail) Nobunagun (from Nobunagun) Olivier Armstrong (from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood), Kirito (from Sword Art Online) and ALL of the Sailor Moon Guardians.
5. The Rule Breaker
Yato from Noragami is a perfect example of a 'bad boy'. Well, technically he is a bad God. Not a very well known God, but if you just give him a chance he will make all your dreams come true! For a price.
If Yato is your anime boyfriend expect many laughs *cough* and possibly getting caught up in battles between Gods on which the entire fate of the world rests *cough* . Yato tries hard and appreciates it when people show him true affection.
Other rougish/bad guys and gals you might like are: Spike (from Cowboy Bebop), Worick and Nicholas (from Gangsta), Koko (from Jormungand) and Cornelia (from Code Geass)
6. The Group
Still can't decide? Anime has (still) got you covered.
If Ouran High Host Club has taught me anything, it's that it's strange that there is melon flavoured lollies. Wait, no, that's not it....It's that in anime, you never have to actually make a decision when it comes to love!
From the monsterous girls in Actually I am:
To the sporty guys in Haikyu:
And of course the ultimate group in anime.....
You can love them all!
7. The Tsundere
Saiki from The Disastrous Life of Saiki K is the ultimate tsundere in my books. Tsundere often appear cold and unfeeling, but are actually quite warm once you get to know them.
If Saiki is your anime boyfriend, don't expect too much in the way of nice things being said. Also, he'll be able to read your mind, so be careful of what you think! Deep down though he does care about those around him and goes to the utmost lengths to keep everyone happy.
Other tsundere you might like are: Toosaka Rin (from Fate/Stay Night) and Asuka Langely (from Evangelion).
8. Yuri from Yuri on Ice
He is one half of the greatest love story anime has ever told. You can disagree, but I will fight you.
Setting aside his talent on the ice, Yuri is a sweet, normal guy who is utterly adoreable.
If Yuri is your anime boyfriend, he might not be able to tell you he loves you straight away, but you know the journey getting there will be worth it.
Other Slice of Life characters you might like are: Takeo Goda (from My Love Story!!!) Tanaka (from Tanaka-kun is always Listless) and Junchiro Kagami (from Ultimate Otaku Teacher).
I hope this list helps you on your way to finding 'the one' (or two, or more) anime love this Valentine's Day.
Do you have an anime boyfriend or girlfriend? Let me know!
