When one thinks of ice skating, the images that are associated with the sport are usually music, complex male and female dance routines, and as of recently, "Yuri!!! on Ice". However, during the recent 2017 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, one pair of contestants decided to do something different by introducing a new element into their dance routine - K-pop!
Competing in the Ice Dancing category, South Korean pair Yura Min and Alexander Gamelin kicked off their routine with the blues song "Your Heart is as Black as Night". After the graceful opening, the duo kicked things up a notch when the music took a sudden shift from blues to BIGBANG's "Bang Bang Bang" and 2NE1's "I Am The Best". With both songs being highly-energetic ravers, the skating duo's routine suitably changed to match the songs - and it was absolutely awesome!
As for how the duo fared against the competition, they ultimately took 8th spot out of 16. They may not have won a medal at the championships, but they definitely won some new fans!
