Many anime voice over actors and actresses generally have a heavy workload when it comes to overdubbing as they usually also provide vocals to a project's accompanying songs. While fans appreciate it when voice actors and actresses sing, there are instances where the singing is sub-par when compared to reading dialogue, which generally necessitates some tricks in order to smooth out any mistakes.

Not for voice actress Maaya Sakamoto.

Cast in the role of Rosita the Pig in the Japanese dubbed version of the popular animated film "Sing," Maaya Sakamoto provides both the speaking and singing voices of the character. While the talking parts are no problem for the veteran voice actress, it was her singing that wowed everyone.

Taking on a cover of Katy Perry's "Firework" for the film, Sakamoto impressed everyone with her clear vocals and passionate delivery. Despite singing in a English, a language that's not her native tongue, Maaya Sakamoto was so brilliant that she outshone Reese Witherspoon's rendition of the character.
