Last week I wrote about idols who came from rich backgrounds. This week I’m writing about idols who have made money on their own.

Here are some of the wealthiest K-Pop idols:

1. IU

Lee Ji-eun (aka IU) made a name for herself in the music industry with her amazing skills in singing, song writing, acting, hosting and dancing. She started her music career at the age of 15 captivating audiences with her unique music style. She also has multiple endorsement deals.

2. T.O.P

Not only is Choi Seung-hyun (better known as T.O.P) part of BIGBANG - one of South Korea's most successful K-Pop groups - he’s also established himself as a worthy actor. He's appeared in movies such as Commitment andTazza 2: The Hidden Card. T.O.P is currently doing his military duty but we can’t wait until he comes back to see more of his epic acting and rapping abilities.

3. Leetuek

Park Jeong-Su (aka Leeteuk) is the leader of Super Junior. He has worked hard to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry becoming a well recognised MC in South Korea, doing shows such as Star King and Star Show 360, to name a couple.

4. Yoona

Im Yoon-ah is known as the face of SNSD (Girls' Generation). With all the group success over the years she has landed numerous ads, she’s even been the solo face of twenty advertisements. She's acted acted in various dramas and has a supporting role in her first ever movie, Confidential Assignment coming out this year.

5. BoA

Kwon Boa signed on to label SM Entertainment and released her first single when she was 13 years old. She was one of the first Korean acts to have major success transitioning into the Japanese market. Currently at the age of 30, she’s already been in the music industry for a whopping 17 years and could retire whenever she wants.

6. G-Dragon

Kwon Ji-Yong (aka G-Dragon) is the leader, song writer and composer for BIGBANG. He has also successfully moved into the fashion industry with his line of clothing Peace Minus One. He is expected to make a solo comeback soon, so be on the lookout for some more amazing G-Dragon music.

7. Psy

Park Jae-Sang (aka PSY) hit the jackpot in 2012 with his hit ‘Gangnam Style’ becoming the most viewed video on YouTube. It became an international sensation almost overnight. He has since released "Hangover" with Snoop Dogg and "Daddy" with CL. He makes most of his money from YouTube ad revenue and digital downloads. Psy has reportedly purchased a place in Los Angeles worth $1.2 million.
