Actor Kim Hyun Joong has reportedly had his driving licence suspended after being caught driving under the influence.
According to a new report from Channel A, the police were notified in the early hours of the morning of March 26 when a driver noticed that a car in front of him wasn't moving. After arriving at the scene, the police discovered Kim Hyun Joong asleep at the wheel. After testing for a blood alcohol level of 0.075% at the time, the actor's license was automatically suspended.
Kim Hyun Joong's company, KeyEast Entertainment, issued out a statement in response to this incident, writing that the actor is currently reflecting on his actions.
Here is KeyEast Entertainment's statement in full:
“At dawn on March 26, Kim Hyun Joong was drinking with his friends near his house when he was asked to move his car by a parking attendant. He drove to comply with this. He hadn’t slept for a few days to practice for his concert, and while he didn’t even drive 1 kilometre, he was asked to submit to a blood alcohol test and had his driver’s license suspended.
Regardless of the reason, it was wrong for Kim Hyun Joong to get behind the wheel and he understands that what he did is wrong and he is reflecting. We will be careful so that this doesn’t happen again in the future.”
