Will you be watching "Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry"?

The film is said to set up the ending of the series with manga creator Hiro Mashima closely working on the project as executive producer. Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry follows Natsu and the Fairy Tail guild, tasked with recapturing the earth-shattering magical artefact, Dragon Cry, from the Kingdom of Stella’s ruler, Sonya.

The film is directed by Tatsuma Minamikawa of Naruto Shippuden the Movie, Bleach: Fade to Black and episodes of Aldnoah Zero; and composed by the original anime series' composer, Yasuhara Takanashi.

While fans of the anime and manga won’t recognise many of the film’s characters, Natsu’s dragon form teased in the Trailer relates to the current events in the manga (Spoiler Warning for the manga). In fact, the main cast’s character designs and abilities suggest the film is set prior to the major time-skip in the series.

A-1 Pictures have not commented on the future of the anime, following it’s hiatus last year. You can watch the anime on Animelab.

You can also find out which cinemas are playing Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry on the film’s website.
