Sankichi Hinodeya’s manga, based on Nintendo’s Splatoon game, is coming to the West later this year.

The manga is published monthly by CoroCoro Comics magazine, with two volumes currently released in Japan. North American publisher Viz Media announced they will be distributing the series to the West, during their panel at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo.

A one-shot for the game’s upcoming sequel, Splatoon 2 (for the Nintendo Switch on July 21), is available to read online. An official serialisation is scheduled for the June issue of the magazine, out May 15.

Hinodeya originally pitched the series as a one-shot manga in May 2015 and began serialising it in February the following year.

Splatoon is a kid-friendly multiplayer game on the Nintendo Wii U. Set in a world populated by squids that can turn into human teens known as inklings, players compete in colourful turf wars using paint.
