Mitsuro Kubo’s Yuri on Ice is getting a sequel film, which was announced at a Yuri!!! on Stage live-streamed event this weekend.

It’s unclear whether it’ll follow the first season’s ending of Yuri’s and Victor’s relationship, which saw them develop from an athlete and coach, to lovers, to deciding on both competing and coaching as mutual skaters. All we have so far is the visual below.

The Yuri!!! on Stage live-streamed event will be available on the final Bluray disc, along with an exclusive scene of Yuri Plisetsky competing in Barcelona. Given Yuri on Ice’s huge popularity, this news isn’t surprising. We gather we’ll hear more about it later this year.

Yuri on Ice is a beautiful sports anime about an ice-skating competition and the relationship between a coach and athlete. The series was a big step for diversity in the anime industry, introducing a queer romance and a multi-cultural cast. You can watch it on Crunchyroll.
