McDonald's has released a two-minute-long anime commercial, animated by Studio Colorido, and starring members of the J-Pop idol group, AKB48.

The animated short follows AKB48 members Yui Yokoyama and Rin Okabe as current and former McDonald's employees; Sumihire (Okabe) and Ikumi (Yokoyama). Sumihire is Ikumi’s former manager, applying for a corporate position.

“It might be a bit of an exaggeration but my starting point was McDonald's,” AKB48 member, Yokoyama said. “Using teamwork, greeting and courtesy are important in your career. I learned it all at McDonald's and it’s connected to my current duties as general manager of AKB48.”

The commercial is a follow-up to another last year, centered on Ikumi’s early days at the fast-food chain. Studio Colorido has also animated McDonald's commercials using licensed characters from Yo-kai Watch and Puzzles and Dragons.
