Fans of 'Yuri on Ice' and 'Haikyu!!' should look into it.

Tomo Takeuchi’s ballroom shonen manga series, Welcome to the Ballroom, is getting an anime adaption.

The series, produced by Production I.G. (Haikyu!!!, Attack on Titan and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex), will air in July. It will be directed by Yoshimi Itazu (Paprika, Mitsuami no Kamisama) and composed by Yuki Hayashi (Haikyu!!!, My Hero Academia).

Welcome to the Ballroom follows the world of competitive dancing through the eyes of young amateur, Tatara Fujita. Tatara is an aimless high school student who falls into the dancing scene, learning the trade as he competes.

Takeuchi’s artistic style illustrates elaborate costumes and expressive character designs with accentuated facial expressions and sharp lines. Like Yuri on Ice!!!, Welcome to the Ballroom pays attention to every minute detail to build a realistic community of competitive dancing and tension. It’ll be interesting to see how it transcribes to an anime but the few promotional videos released look beautiful.

The manga is being localised by Kodansha Comics with the first four volumes currently available in the West.
