In some unfortunate news, Japanese actor Nakamura Shidō II has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

According to a new report, the 44-year-old actor was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer during a health check-up and will subsequently take a break from all performances to undergo treatment. Thankfully, the disease was caught early and according to a statement from the actor, he was told by doctors that he "will be able to recover" if he "immediately undergoes surgery."

Nakamura Shidō II has had a long career across film, TV, and voice acting, with his most notable role being the voice of Ryuk in the various "Death Note" live-adaptations.

Our fingers are crossed for Nakamura Shidō II to have a speedy recovery.
