Joey and Aki have some tips for all those aspiring anime YouTubers out there!

Every Monday, YouTubers Joey the Anime Man and Aki Dearest join forces to bring you The Anime Show, an hour that covers what’s hot, what’s not, what’s new and what you should be watching in the world of anime!

In the latest episode, Joey and Aki take a trip down memory lane and have a look at the reasons why they became anime YouTubers, as well as advice for those aspiring to be YouTubers.

For Joey, he initially ran a website where he gave (by his admission, pretty poor) reviews of anime, and this still occasionally gets brought up from time to time due to his original 9 out of 10 review for "Sword Art Online" before he changed his mind completely later. The traction gained from the website led to the making of videos some 4 years ago, and Joey hasn't looked back since.

As for Aki, she originally started out making AMVs (animated music videos) only to take a break for 8 years due to things like studying and work. After such a long time away, she got the urge to start doing videos again and since she restarted her channel last year, it has grown to something else entirely.

Given that the duo have considerable experience being YouTubers, Joey and Aki then give some advice to those who want to go down that path. While it's okay to express opinions in videos, it is a balancing act as YouTubers need to please their audience while also needing to be aware that anything they say could cause a scandal.

With issues like being more self-conscious about what is said on YouTube videos, becoming thick-skinned to inevitable criticism is important, something Joey and Aki says is crucial if aspiring YouTubers are to survive.
