"According to a spokesperson in the hospital, T.O.P is still in a lethargic situation."
8 Jun 2017 - 1:40 PM  UPDATED 8 Jun 2017 - 1:47 PM

With so many reports about T.O.P and his condition over the past few days, SBS PopAsia has reached out to our correspondent in South Korea to understand what has been happening over the past 48 hours.

Here's what we know so far:

"A press briefing on BIGBANG member T.O.P was held [yesterday afternoon] at Ewha Woman's Medical Centre in Seoul, and it looks like he is not in a good state. According to a spokesperson in the hospital, T.O.P is still in a lethargic situation. Medical personnel have said that he had an overdose of tranquilizer pills. According to the spokesperson, when T.O.P was hosptialised on Tuesday into the emergency room, he could not react to most stimulations, only towards strong ones.

[T.O.P's] blood pressure was high and he had respiratory problems, so basically he was almost unconscious. There was some controversy about his health condition as police said that T.O.P was not unconscious and that he was still asleep from, reportedly, an overdose of tranquilizer pills, which he had been taking for medical reasons. But earlier [yesterday], T.O.P's mother told media that T.O.P - or Choi Seung-hyun, which is his real name - was in a bad condition, adding that the police misreported that her son is conscious.

T.O.P has been indicted on charges, which is why his military service, which began in February, was put on hold as an investigation is currently being held into that."
