The Supanova anime and manga convention is on in Sydney this weekend (June 16-18), and that means there will be many fans getting ready to don their finest cosplay costumes (and lining up for a photo with Chris Hemsworth)!
Since cosplay costumes aren't exactly made with practicality in mind, not to mention that Supanova takes place in the middle of the Australian Winter, Split Screen hosts and cosplay veterans Lucky and Dan have some words of wisdom to impart on those who intend on dressing up this weekend.
So without further ado, here are some handy tips and tricks from Lucky and Dan that will help you survive any convention!
If you're wearing spandex (like a morph suit), take a jacket!
It's going to get cold, so bring some extra layers! If you have a friend who isn't cosplaying, take advantage it by getting them to hold your spare jacket!
Wear appropriate footwear, especially if it rains
Since rain is a definite possibility (especially in Sydney), also bring a change of clothes just in case.
Have plenty to drink and eat
Since you will be too busy having fun, you may forget to fuel up on food and water, thus running the risk of dehydration. Make sure you are well-fed and well-hydrated at all times!
Take money out the night before
Don't expect to turn up to a convention and expect to use a bank card everywhere as the lines for the few ATMs available are astonishingly long. Plan ahead and get some money out the night before!
