Japanese DJs Yui Kanan and TeddyLoid will perform at SMASH! 2017’s after hours event. The two will be front lining the After Hours show on Saturday August 19 from 7 to 10pm.

DJ Yui Kanan is a cosplayer and producer, leading the Yuimono+ group and cosplay company Onigiri Plus Inc. Her style combines electronic dance music with J-pop tunes, aiming to create a platform where cosplay and EDM intersect.

TeddyLoid has worked with Momoiro Clover Z and the producer of Perfume and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Yasutaka Nakata. He’s co-produced the original soundtrack to Panty & Stocking, Mekakucity Actors and Square Enix’s Mugen Knights, as well as several vocaloid IA songs and remixes.

SMASH! has hosted post-event parties in the past, including 2013’s Vocaloid Party Night and SMASH X I LOVE ANISONG in 2015. In this way, SMASH! President Andrew Qiu, describes the show as, “the leading anime convention.”

“Since it’s inception, entertainment has been a crucial element to SMASH! conventions every year,” he said. “From mainstream to indie bands, SMASH! rises to the challenge by bringing a variation of Japanese artists to Australia. We are expecting another successful event that fans and non-fans will enjoy.”

TeddyLoid and Yui Kanan join previously revealed guests: queer cosplay couple, Baozi & Hana, voice actors Shizuka Itoh (Sailor Moon Crystal, Psycho-Pass, Overwatch), Daisuke Sakaguchi (Baccano, Clannad, Gintama), Shiori Mikami (Attack on Titan, YuruYuri, Btooom), and - as of last week - manga artist Asami Hagawara (Bye-Bye, Humanity).

SMASH! is Sydney’s largest anime and manga convention. The show will be held at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on August 19-20.
