The k-pop music industry is flooded with hundreds of groups who debut every year, so I've decided to check out groups that are amazing but underrated.
Gugudan are from Jellyfish Entertainment but have yet to find their big success as a group. Members Kim Sejong and Kang Mina participated on the show Produce 101 Season One and were ranked second and ninth, respectively, allowing them to debut with IOI.
But Gugudan aren't as popular as many thought they would be. They have extremely talented members who deserve to more attention.

2. F.T. Island
F.T. Island has been around for a decade now. They had the perfect start to their career with their first three singles "Lovesick," "Thunder" and "Until You Come Back" all reaching the number one spot in Korea. Although it seems the group has become less popular over time - possibly due to them being a rock band and the genre not being as mainstream as it used to be - the group’s albums still get a lot of praise and Lee Hongki’s vocals are truly amazing with the group personally being one of my favourites ever since I got into k-pop.
Check out their latest single ‘Wind’:
HIGH4, like F.T. Island, had a dream start to their career teaming up with IU on "Not Spring, Love or Cherry Blossoms," which had over one million sales and 50 million YouTube views.
Unfortunately, HIGH4 couldn’t match the hopes of their first single. I hope they can get back to the top of the charts soon, they’ve got all the talent in the world to do it.
Check out their funky single ‘Headache’:
Stellar received criticism for their track "Marionette," which got a 19+ rating with critics saying the song was too sexual. Despite the criticism, "Marionette" is still the group's best-selling single. It was when a fan captured Stellar performing live that the group started to gain positive attention due to their amazing vocal ability.
Check out their catchy single ‘Sting’:
Boyfriend debuted back in 2011 under Starship Entertainment who also house Monsta X and SISTAR. Their debut track "Boyfriend" has over 24 million views on YouTube but peaked at 71 on the Korean singles charts. The group has had mediocre success with singles over the years but haven't been able to crack the top 40 chart in Korea. They have recently been promoting in Japan but haven’t released a Korean extended play or album since 2015. Hopefully, they can make a successful comeback soon!
Check out their track ‘Witch’:
I found BESTie through their groovy track "Love Options," which I was a huge fan of in 2014, I thought that would’ve been a huge hit but now in 2017 it only has six million views on YouTube and peaked at 113 on the charts. BESTie feel like a top tier group, all four members are incredible and I think they’re only one good song away from being successful!

Day6 simply just needs to be listened to, to understand their unique ability. And you may recognise member Jae from hosting After School Club.
Here’s one of my favourite Day6 songs ‘I Wait’:
NU’EST's debut track "Face" got them some immediate attention selling over 200,000 singles and the music video gaining over 60 million views on YouTube.
The group, however, started to sell fewer records in the coming years and found themselves wondering what happened. NU’EST participated on Produce 101 Season 2 to gain more popularity. Fortunately, their hard work paid off and it helped their fan café expand from 25,0000 members to 50,000 members and NU’EST are expected to make a comeback later this year.
Check out their underrated track ‘Good Bye Bye':
