Netflix has released a Trailer for their upcoming Death Note live action film.

The Trailer gives us a first look at Keith Stanfield’s L (Get Out, Straight Outta Compton, Snowden) and the Death God, Ryuk, played by Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man, The Great Budapest Hotel, The Anti-Christ).

In the clip, Natt Wolf’s Light Turner (The Fault in Our Stars, Paper Towns, Ashby) is a bullied high school kid who, after meeting Ryuk and discovering the death note - a supernatural book that grants the user the ability to kill anyone whose face and name they know - has his world changed forever.

Netflix’s Death Note is a live action adaptation of Tsugime Ohaba’s cult classic manga series. The film is directed by Adam Wingard (Blair Witch, You’re Next, V/H/S) and written by Jeremy Slater (2015’s Fantastic Four, Pet, The Lazarus Effect). If you can’t hold out till the film releases on August 25, we suggest reading the manga or watching the anime currently available on AnimeLab.
