Joey and Aki had a BIG weekend at Anime Expo 2017, including seeing people cosplaying as Joey!

Every Monday, YouTubers Joey the Anime Man and Aki Dearest join forces to bring you The Anime Show, an hour that covers what’s hot, what’s not, what’s new and what you should be watching in the world of anime!

In the latest episode, Joey and Aki are coming in live from Los Angeles, where they are joining in the festivities of one of the largest anime conventions in America, Anime Expo 2017!

Anime Expo regularly draws in massive crowds, with over 100,000 attendees for the 2016 edition. Unsurprisingly, having this many people funnel through the LA Convention Centre is a bit of a chaotic mess, something that Aki described as "super-disorganised." Since the duo have a number of obligations and signings at the event, they sadly had to skip a number of events and panels that they really wanted to attend, a problem that's quite common for massive conventions.

Joey also has to deal with the amount of female admirers (some cool, some weird) whenever he attends conventions, while this one doesn't quite count as a con (and Aki is quite cool with it all), he does find it amusingly odd, especially when one girl asked him "can I be your anime expo wifu?"

But the cons barely made a dint when compared to the number of positives during Anime Expo 2017. Joey and Aki got to meet various big-name actors and celebrities, such as Dante Basco (Hook, Avatar: The Last Airbender), as well as almost every major anime Youtuber in the community. The duo also noticed the sheer number of people cosplaying various video game and anime characters, many of which were very impressive and many were of lesser-known characters. Perhaps most amusingly, there were even some people who cosplayed as Joey!

Between the various pros and cons of Anime Expo, the event did have one unforgettable moment for the couple - it was where Joey and Aki first met each other in person!
