Japanese illustrator Redjuice is coming to SMASH! 2017.
Redjuice is best known for producing the promotional video to Hatsune Miku’s Supercell, as well as working on character designs for Guilty Crown, Project Itoh, the Hanasaku Manimani video game and sci-fi novel series, Beatless.
According to SMASH! President Andrew Qiu, having a wide range of exclusive guests helps make the convention an event, “by fans for fans.”
“A majority of SMASH! fans love meeting voice-acting guests at SMASH! Because it enables them to meet their favourite anime characters in real life,” Qiu said.
“However, we want fans to interact with other guests who have contributed to Japanese pop-culture. Redjuice has been in the spotlight for many years now and there is no doubt about his talent. We hope fans and aspiring illustrators will come to support him at SMASH!”
A cosplay workshop for those attending the convention, called Senpai Notice Me, will also run on July 16 at the Japan Foundation in Sydney. The event will be run by cosplayers Miyukiko and Knitemaya.
Redjuice is the sixth announced guest for SMASH! 2017, joining other special guests: voice actors Daisuke Sakaguchi (Baccano, Gintama, Clannad), Shizuka Itoh (Sailor Moon Crystal, PsychoPass, Overwatch) and Shiori Mikami (Attack on Titan, Yuru Yuri), queer cosplay couple Baozi & Hana, and manga artist Asami Hagiwara (Bye-Bye Humanity).
SMASH! 2017 will be held at Rosehill Gardens on August 19-20.
