A Studio Ghibli short film, never seen before in Australia, will air during an upcoming Ghibli marathon in Australia.

The film, Ghiblies: Episode 2, tells the daily lives of Ghibli staff. The film was first released in 2002 and prior to the Ghibli marathon event, Celebrate Studio Ghibli, it had not aired outside Japan. The Ghiblies is directed by the Ni no Kuni series character designer, Yoshiyuki Momose (Spirited Away, Porco Rosso and Grave of the Fireflies).

Celebrate Studio Ghibli is a marathon event running from August 24 to September 10 in select Australian and New Zealand cinemas. Organised by Madman, the event will host every one of the studio’s iconic films, from My Neighbour Totoro to the documentary The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness.

Studio Ghibli are currently co-developing a video game, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, using the whimsical charm of their film franchises.
