Every Monday, YouTubers Joey the Anime Man and Aki Dearest join forces to bring you The Anime Show, an hour that covers what’s hot, what’s not, what’s new and what you should be watching in the world of anime!
In the latest episode, Joey and Aki are SUPER tired after travelling nonstop for 15 hours and attending an anime convention in Finland. But between moments of delirious laughter and exhaustion, the duo manage to squeeze out a very interesting topic - which anime series are huge in Finland but not anywhere else?
Right off the bat, Joey names the 1990 co-Finnish production, Moonmin, as an anime series that is massive in Finland but nowhere else. However, one particularly big (and surprising) anime series that Finnish fans are in love with is Ginga and its sequel Ginga Legend Weed, both of which tell the story of a young dog leaving their master and joining a pack of wild dogs. The duo aren't 100% sure why Ginga is so big in Finland, but their exhaustion rendered them unable to do any deep analysis on the matter (other than Aki originally wanting to know all about Ginga Legend Weed because the title had the word "weed" in it).
At this point, the duo decided to shift the topic slightly and attempt to name some anime that's huge in America, but nowhere else. After a moment of exhaustion-induced weirdness where Aki names "Hogwarts" as an anime, the duo realise that America loves two all-time great anime series that Japanese audiences don't really know much about anymore - Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.
