According to CoroCoro magazine, Nintendo’s popular ink-shooting multiplayer game Splatoon is getting an anime adaptation.
The series will begin airing on CoroCoro’s YouTube channel in August. Rather than full length episodes, the show will consist of animated shorts based on the manga adaptation published in the weekly magazine.
Details of the anime, including character cameos and tie-ins, are currently unclear but we’re hoping to see the squid sisters make a colourful return. The manga, which was previously confirmed to release in the West later this year, follows two teams of squids competing in turf wars in a bold art style.
Splatoon is a hugely popular family-friendly multiplayer game from Nintendo. The series involves players taking on the role of human-looking squid kids competing in turf wars using splashes of paint. The series blew up in Japan with a vocaloid concert last year. Splatoon 2 releases today on the Nintendo Switch.
