To be able to perform for the public after years of training is the light at the end of the tunnel for every trainee, some of whom managed to debut at a younger age than most.
Here’s a list of the 8 idols (in no particular order) who debuted at a very young age:
8. BIGBANG's Seungri
Hard to believe now, but BIGBANG debuted back in 2006 when Seungri was just 15 years old. Fast forward 10 years and much has happened since; the group are still together, Seungri made his successful solo debut, and became an popular MC in Japan. BIGBANG's maknae has also been quite active outside the music industry, opening a dance academy, a nightclub, and investing in other various businesses.
7. SHINee's Taemin
He may still be super young now, but Taemin actually debuted with SHINee in 2009 at the young age of 14 years old. In fact, he was so young that the members would actually walk him to school. Over the years, Taemin has made a name for himself as a solo artist, pumping out hits such as "Danger" and "Press Your Number."
BoA was only 13 years old when she made her debut back in 2000. Known for her amazing vocals and dance skills, she was one of the first Korean artists to ever have major success in Japan. In fact, BoA has already been in the entertainment industry for a whopping 17 years - an incredible achievement given that she is only 30 years old!
5. BTS' Jungkook
Jungkook (aka the Golden Maknae) was only 15 when debuted with BTS in 2013, and the boys have since become one of the biggest groups in K-pop. Given that Jungkook is only 19 years old now, he's been through some incredible stuff in the K-pop industry already. Outside of K-pop and music, he said that he would like to become a tattoo artist and own a duck restaurant!
4. 2NE1's Minzy
Minzy had been training at YG Entertainment for four years, until she eventually made her debut at the age of 15 with 2NE1 in 2009. Known for her incredible dancing ability, she’s since become a solo artist under the label Music Works following 2NE1's disbandment.
3. KARA's Kang Ji Young
Kang Ji Young made her debut with KARA in 2007 at the tender young age of 14. Even with group's success, she decided not to renew her contract with DPS Entertainment in 2014, saying that she wants to focus on acting and her studies. She has since moved to Japan to become an actress and musician, and she's managed to make a name for herself over there thanks to her roles in the Assassination Classroom live-action films, as well as releasing a solo album titled "Many Faces."
2. f(x)'s Krystal
Alongside her older sister Jessica, Krystal was scouted by SM Entertainment in early 2000 at a shopping centre when she was only 5 years old. In her early years, she would star in television commercials but it wasn't until 2009 when she debuted with f(x) at 14 years old. She has since become a well-known actress, starring in popular K-dramas such as The Heirs and My Lovely Girl.
1. Miss A's Suzy
In 2010, Suzy made her K-pop debut with Miss A at the young age of 15 years old. She has since ventured into acting, where she found major solo success starring in the drama Gu Family Book with Lee Seung-gi. Beyond her acting, Suzy has established herself as a commercial queen, before making her solo music debut with her album "Yes? No?" earlier this year.
