J-pop boy band Da-iCE have dazzled fans with their own songs for quite some time now, so it’s nice to see the high-energy unit tackle a number from a classic Japanese group. In this case, that number is a cut from the beloved J-pop duo Dreams Come True.
“Osaka Lover” will come out on August 31 alongside the single “Kimiiru,” which Da-iCE previewed a few weeks back. To get some hype going, the group shared a brief sample of their take on “Osaka Lover,” which you can watch below.
Dreams Come True’s original leaned heavily on strings to establish a groove, but Da-iCE bring out dizzying synthesizer notes and drum machine beats to create a vaguely more futuristic take on the number. They even sneak in a few wonky details, such as pitch-shifted vocal lines which cascade down right before the chorus.

Dreams Come True’s original came out ten years ago, and it’s one of the more driving tunes from the duo’s mostly breezy pop catalog. They recently performed it at Universal Studios Japan in (fittingly) Osaka, where they were joined by several people wearing Minions costumes. Watch it below.
