Legendary anime director Shinichiro Watanabe is coming to Madman’s Anime Festival in Melbourne.

Watanbe will present an on-stage panel at the show, alongside times to meet fans and sign autographs. Fans of Cowboy Bebop are without a doubt curious to see if this panel has any relation to the upcoming live-action TV series, which was announced earlier this year.

Shinichiro Watanabe (Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop: the Movie, and Animatrix) is an auteur of the anime industry, best well known for directing the classic science-fiction noir anime series, Cowboy Bebop. Watanabe made his directing debut in 1994 with the mech original video animation, Macross Plus. More recently, he directed the teen terrorist anime Terror in Resonance, and the sci-fi comedy Space Dandy.

Watanabe will join other announced guests of honour, which includes the English voice of Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan and Kirito in Sword Art Online, Bryce Papenbrook, and Taiwanese cosplayer, Ely. More guests are expected to be announced in the coming months.

Madman Anime Festival is an anime and manga pop culture convention held by Australian anime distributor Madman Entertainment. The Melbourne event will be held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on November 3-4.
