MBC is joining the growing trend of K-pop survival shows with a program of their own!
According to Naver, the network is planning an "idol revival" series for "secondhand idols," which will be broadcast in late November.
However, the MBC show has a unique twist to set it apart from the other competition shows out there, as it will see established idols 'producing' their own idol groups.
In a statement (via Allkpop), an MBC representative said: "Under the lead of Jung Chang Young PD, [MBC] will be creating a program where talented and well-known idols with producing capabilities will produce idol groups of their own. It is aiming for a November broadcast."
The announcement comes after several established idols have found success producing for project groups over the past year. PENTAGON's Hui was behind the Produce 101 hit "Never," while B1A4's Jinyoung produced "Deep Blue Eyes" for Girls Next Door.
Other survival shows on the way include JYP Entertainment's Sixteen 2, Produce 101 season three, KBS' The Unit (formerly 'The Final 99 Match'), and a show from YG Entertainment to create a new boy band.
