J-pop outfit Little Glee Monster have achieved a lot in four years, and now they can add another big achievement to their resume; the five-member group will open for Ariana Grande on two of her upcoming dates in Tokyo this weekend.

Announced earlier in the week, Little Glee Monster will serve as the opening act at Grande’s August 12 and 13 dates of her Dangerous Woman Tour. Both will happen at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center, located just outside of Tokyo proper.

Considering Grande’s massive popularity in Japan, this is a pretty huge co-sign for Little Glee Monster. So, quick refresher course: the group came together around 2012, though they didn’t formally launch until 2013. They were one of the first Japanese groups to really tap into the potential of YouTube, thanks to a site-friendly style drawing from a cappella and a viral cover of the song “Cups” from the film “Pitch Perfect” (though all of their videos can’t be watched outside of Japan, so let’s not give them too many points for web savvy). They then started releasing uptempo pop cuts, all while developing a signature look - every photo and video of the group finds the members wearing colorful, oversized headphones around their neck.

Although they’ve already done a lot in the industry, Little Glee Monster’s opening slot for Grande hints at even bigger things down the line.
