Jessica Jung recently celebrated her 10th anniversary debut on August 5, which coincided with her former group Girls' Generation's own 10th anniversary. While the singer may have left the group three years ago, Jessica looks back at that period as something "precious" to her.
In a new interview with Xsports News, Jessica was asked about what Girls' Generation means to her, to which she replied “A precious relationship, something precious, which I spent my youth together with." Having spent seven years with the group, the singer reflected that the 9 members "went through everything together, including difficult and good moments and more," and that her time with Girls' Generation "was a really beautiful period for me that [she] cannot erase." 2017 also marks 10 years since the release of Girls' Generation's first single, "Into The New World," and Jessica still has fond memories of the song, saying that “It’s a really happy song. A song that I cherish. I saw some buses on my way to the hair salon today, and they were ‘Into the New World’ filming buses. I’m happy. Because it’s a precious song.”
Given that Girls' Generation had released their new comeback album on the same day as their anniversary, Jessica was asked what her impressions were, to which she replied “I haven’t been able to listen to the whole album, but I saw a music video clip. I think it came out in a way that suits them, and expresses their own unique colors.”
When asked about her 10th anniversary, Jessica said time has gone by so fast that it didn't even register that she has been active for 10 years. The singer reflected that “It was only when my fans told me that I thought, ‘That’s right, this year is my 10th anniversary.’ I feel proud of myself too for reaching my 10th anniversary.”
Fans around the world have given the singer considerable support for her anniversary, including some big billboards in Times Square in New York, and Jessica has nothing but thanks for all the kind gestures. In response to all the fan support events, the singer says that “I think that now that I’m promoting on my own, fans do more support events for me, I was really surprised. It gave me strength, and made me want to release my new album faster.”
It's been a wonderful 10 years, Jessica, may there be many more to come!
