It’s been two months since FAKY released their long-anticipated debut album, but the four-piece group aren’t taking it easy - even during the height of Summer-vacation season. Over the weekend, they announced that their next single, “SUGA SWEET,” will arrive on the streaming platform Spotify on August 20. And to wet those tastebuds, FAKY have shared a brief preview of what their next step sounds like.
FAKY have a sweet tooth, at least based on their career up to this point. One of the unit’s best-known songs is the horn-blurt-heavy “Candy” while June’s major debut album was dubbed Unwrapped. “SUGA SWEET” appears set to really indulge in this dessert theme, as the preview clip finds FAKY mentioning ice cream, Hershey’s Kisses, and more treats you should enjoy in moderation in one fast minute. They also sing about peppers, maybe because a well-balanced diet is pretty important.
Beyond the grocery-store-checkout-lane references, “SUGA SWEET’s” music hints at some tempo-bending antics from the quartet. The song starts soft, with guitar notes that give way to snaps, before the pace quickens. By the chorus, it has broken into a full-out sprint, with FAKY keeping up without losing sight of the song’s love-as-sugary-taste metaphor. Keep an eye out for the full version to emerge next week.
