Jake Zyrus, formerly known as Charice Pempengco, talks about his journey of transition to become a man. In an interview with the Inquirer, he revealed that he had both breasts surgically removed and had begun testosterone treatment.

He has changed all of his social media handles to Jake Zyrus to reflect his new male identity. He will be hosting his first concert as Jake this coming October.

The change comes three years after his 2014 interview with Oprah Winfrey where he told her that his, "soul was male."

When asked if it was a 'tough decision,' Jake told the Inquirer, "I knew what I wanted, so there were no buts and doubts."

Jake Zyrus, who previously performed as Charice, rose to fame after appearing on South Korean talent show Star King, where he showed his immense vocal talent in a duet with Super Junior's Kyuhyun. He subsequently appeared another three times on the show and also made appearances on talk-shows such as Ellen.

Charice was the first Asian solo singer in history to be in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 with the album Charice, coming in at number eight. Glee fans will also remember him as the character Sunshine Corazon on the hit TV show.
