K-Pop idol group subunits are awesome! So here's nine of the best:

1. Infinite-H

Infinite-H is the subunit group from INFINITE, which consists of two members, Dongwoo and Hoya. The unit made their debut in 2013 with a hip-hop focused EP Fly High and title track "Special Girl." The group had great success and definitely raised the bar for sub-unit standards.

Check out the awesome "Special Girl" MV here:

2. Troublemaker

Troublemaker was the unlikely collaboration of Hyunseung (former BEAST member) and Hyuna (former 4MINUTE member). The duo created immediate interest when they gave a performance at the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards, which included an on-stage kiss. The group’s first single "Troublemaker" sold over four million records, topping the charts. When they had a comeback in 2013 their next single "Now" took number one on the Korean Gaon charts.

3. TaeTiSeo

TaeTiSeo (TTS) is the combination of Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun from Girls' Generation. The sub-unit was made when group members were focusing on individual activities such as acting and television programs. These three members wanted to continue their music activities thus TaeTiSeo was born. Their first title track "Twinkle" made TTS become the first ever sub-unit to win a triple crown on South Korean music shows (being number one for three consecutive weeks). The group released two more extended plays Holler (2014) and Dear Santa (2015). With Girls' Generation recently celebrating their tenth anniversary, we might see a TaeTiSeo come back in the near future.

GD&TOP are the sub-unit between BIGBANG members G-Dragon and T.O.P. Their self-titled album GD&TOP  sold over 130,000 copies in one week with title tracks "Oh Yeah" and "High High" selling over a million each. The sub-unit reunited for BIGBANG’s comeback in 2015 with single "Zutter," which again sold over a million copies.

5. Orange Caramel

Orange Caramel are a sub-unit from After School. The members are Raina, Nana and Lizzy. While After School was known for their sexy concept, Orange Caramel went for a more cute and colourful style. The group debuted with "Magic Girl." Their first EP reached number two on the Korean Gaon charts.

SISTAR19 is a combination of former SISTAR members Hyolyn and Bora. Their debut single "Ma Boy" was a huge success in 2011. SISTAR19 made a comeback in 2013 with "Gone Not Around Any Longer," which topped the charts once again proving the sub-unit was a fantastic duo.

7. Super Junior K.R.Y.

Super Junior K.R.Y. consists of members Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Yesung. Super Junior, at the time, had 13 members but only a few were well known, such as Heechul, Shindong, Siwon and Leetuek. Super Junior K.R.Y. aimed to help establish lesser known members through their incredible vocal talents. The group held their own concert in 2010 where over 22,000 people attended.

EXO-CBX is the first official sub-unit from EXO, which include members Chen, Baekhyun and Xuimin. In 2016 they released their extended play "Hey Mama!" which sold over 280,000 copies, an incredible mark for a sub-unit. They made their debut in Japan with "Ka-CHING!" as their title track for their extended play "Girls," which sold 59,000 copies.

VIXX LR is the combination of VIXX members Leo and Ravi. Their debut extended play "Beautiful Liar" sold over 130,000 copies in 2015. The group won their first ever music show award on SBS’ The Show with an amazing 9,464 votes making it the second highest number of votes on the program, second only to their parent group VIXX. VIXX LR has recently just made a comeback with title track "Whisper."
