1. Most viewed debut music video of all time
NU’EST - Face (67 million views)
NU’EST came storming onto the block with their 2012 debut music video soaring up views faster than any other in male K-pop group history. The music video currently has 67 million views making it a huge success. The video has got attention over the years because it also features SEVENTEEN members, before their debut and with NU’ESTs’ appearance on Produce 101 it climbed again.
2. Most viewed music video in the first 24 hours
BTS - Not Today (10.97 million views)
BTS got close to 11 million views in 24 hours on their MV for "Not Today". They took out second best too, for their track "Spring Day," which got over 9 million views within a day. With BTS’ comeback on the radar soon, be ready for this record to be broken yet again.
3. Most viewed music video of all time
BIGBANG - Fantastic Baby (315 million views)
BIGBANG released "Fantasic Baby" as the title track for their fifth album Alive. With a funky futuristic sound and post-apocalyptic video theme where music isn’t allowed – it’s no wonder it has over 315 million views on YouTube. The song has even been featured on the Pitch Perfect 2 movie and Glee TV series. A must-see classic.
4. Oldest idol member to debut
Park Joong Hyung (30 years old)
When g.o.d. debuted Park Joong Hyung was 30 years old. This is because he actually formed the group himself with Park Jin-Young (JYP founder). Member Danny Ahn was cast because he was Park Joong Hyun’s cousin.
5. Most followed male idol on Instagram
G-Dragon (14.7 million followers)
The BIGBANG leader currently has 14.7 million followers on his Instagram account making him the most followed for both male and female idols. Trailing G-Dragon is EXO’s Chanyeol (11.8 million) and Sehun (10.7 million)
6. First ever group to own their own entertainment company
Shinhwa debuted in 1998 with SM Entertainment. Since then they have switched labels multiple times before creating their own called Shinhwa Company in 2011. The group also holds the record for the longest running group without any member changes within their whopping 19-year run.
7. Fastest music show win
WINNER (10 days)
WINNER was able to win their first music show in just 10 days after debuting with their track "Empty". Coming in at second place is YG Entertainment label mate iKON who won it in 12 days and third is CNBLUE who won it in 15 days.
8. Highest-selling album
Seo Taiji and Boys IV – Seo Taiji and Boys (2.4 million copies)
Seo Taiji and Boys were a huge hip-hop idol group back in the 1990’s. One of the members was YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk. Their album Seo Taiji and Boys IV has sold over 2.4 million copies since its release in 1995 and was the last album the group did together before disbanding.
9. Most Daesung awards won at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA)
EXO and BIGBANG (5 wins)
EXO has won album of the year at the MAMAs for four straight years (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) and also won artist of the year in 2014.
BIGBANG won song of the year in 2007 and 2015 while also winning artist of the year in 2008, 2012 and 2015.
Both groups have a total of five Daesung awards from the MAMAs.
