It goes without saying that K-pop LOVEs to experiment in terms of MV concepts, and sometimes this experimentation has resulted in fans going "what on earth just happened?"
In an interesting new thread over on Reddit, K-pop fans got into a fascinating discussion about MV concepts that they just didn't understand. With Reddit being the home to a large number of fans who have diverse tastes and interests, the answers were certainly very interesting.
Here are some K-pop MV concepts that were so weird that it went right over fans' heads:
- I'll start with what the actual heck is going on with Shinee's Lucifer? Some kind of ghost following the boys around or something? What does that have to do with all the cars?
Still not sure what's going on in Taeyeon (ft Dean) - "Starlight". Is she an alien? Did he die?
And are Sooyoung and Yuri supposed to be lovers in "All Night"?
Red Velvet - Rookie
like wtf is that flower guy and those ovnis
- EXID - Every Night
Ailee - I'll show you.
WHY'D YOU GO BACK TO HIM GIRL YOU COULD DO SO MUCH BETTER THIS SONG WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT EMPOWERMENT HOW COULD YOU JUST GO BACK.
"When The skies and the grounds were one legends through there twelve forces nurtured the tree of life. An eye of red forces created the evil which covered the heart of tree of life and the heart slowly grew dry."
I'm EXO trash but not going to lie, I was very confused by this extra af opening narration when it first came out.
- BTS in general.
Monsta X's the Clan trilogy. First MV had some sort of (confusingly told) story, then the other two were.. alternate universes? Less story and too much symbolism. No idea what the whole series was about.
Got7's flight log. I only really watched the MVs, was there a story?
