Rapper San E has received criticism from some Korean netizens for an incident involving Red Velvet's Irene.

The pair were MCs for the Ansan Friendship Super Show when San E playfully rested his arm on Irene's shoulder for a second while sticking his tongue out.

Some netizens have said it was inappropriate for the rapper to touch Irene, while others have criticised him for the tongue gesture, which they've interpreted as rude to fans.

"Did he really do that to make fun of her fans?? That's a big no," wrote one netizen.

Another commented: "Did he really have to put his arm on her shoulder?? That's ridiculous."

However, some others have called the backlash an overreaction, with many netizens on Nate commenting that the hip-hop star has nothing to apologise for.

"All this fuss over nothing," wrote one.

"Way too many people pretending to be so upright in our country. Is putting his arm around someone really something to be this angry over," wrote another.
