The last few weeks have seen Eat Your Kimchi uncover a number of surprises during their exploratory wanders through the "darker" sides of Japan, and this week is no different - except that there's ice cream involved this time!
Emboldened by their recent walks around the unknown parts of their neighbourhood, Simon and Martina decided to do it once again this week and the couple found themselves wandering into an area called Harmonica Alley. Between hidden restaurants and a lack of light, the couple found that the area was incredibly charming in its own unique way.
Simon and Martina's adventure took a pleasant turn when they stumbled across a secret bar, one that doesn't show up on any map. Not only was it the darkest bar that Simon has ever sat in, Martina noticed that the customers were made up of the most stylish businessmen they've ever seen. Having paid a cover charge in order to sit down, Simon had a feeling that the bar was going to be special and his hunch proved to be correct because not only were the drinks and wine delicious (and served by a ladle no less), the menu even had some surprising things like chocolate kisses and an absolutely tasty homemade ice-cream sundae!
In the (paraphrased) words of Eat Your Kimchi - who would come to a smokey bar that's hidden in the dark and filled with stylish businessmen and order chocolate kisses with an ice-cream sundae? (Answer: Simon and Martina that's who!)
So the moral of the story this week - Explore Japan and you may find yourself some really nice ice cream in the most unlikely of places!
