Despite being in the industry for nearly 10 years now, Taemin is still seen as a bit of a mystery in the world of K-pop. But with the release of his latest album MOVE, we may be getting a deeper glimpse into who the SHINee maknae really is and why renowned publication W Magazine deems him as "K-pop's Justin Bieber."
In a new interview with W Magazine, Taemin talked about a variety of topics, such as the differences between going solo and with SHINee, the thinking behind MOVE, and his influences.
SHINee certainly helped Taemin prepare for his solo, but with MOVE, he wanted to showcase his many different sides, as well as the many different qualities of his new title song. This is why he released three music videos, all of which have different styles (such as one solo dance video with female dancers and one regular MV) in an attempt to fully capture his performance.
As he's been compared to Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber in terms of aesthetic and pop star wattage in Korea, Taemin also shed some light on his influences, saying he admires Michael Jackson due to the late singer's ability to connect with fans through his music.
The magazine may have shed some light on who they deem as K-pop's Justin Bieber, but Taemin is definitely shedding that image with MOVE and moving into his own rarified air.
