Millions of BTS votes were deleted from the 2017 MAMAs due to instances of illegal voting.

Following instances of illegal voting taking place at the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards last week, Mnet undertook a clean-up of all the fraudulent votes, resulting in million of votes being deleted.

Several artists took a big hit in terms of votes, such as G-Dragon and Girls' Generation. One artist who took a big hit was BTS, who lost millions of votes and subsequently lost the top spot in a number of categories, including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.

After this big vote clean-up, ARMYs took to Twitter to express their frustrations at BTS losing so many votes, as well as pressuring Mnet to issue out some clarification as to why so many votes were deleted. As a result of this, the hashtag #STAND_BY_BTS started trending worldwide as fans everywhere are attempting to seek an explanation from the MAMAs regarding BTS' deleted votes.
