Pokemon Go developers Niantic Inc. are working on a game set in the Harry Potter universe.

Called Harry Potter Wizards Unite, the game is an official mobile AR experience in partnership with Warner Bros Studios. and WB Games’ San Francisco games division. Much like Ingress and their hugely popular Pokemon AR mobile game, Harry Potter Wizards Unite will allow people to play out their dreams of living in J.K. Rowling’s magical world.

For Niantic, the project felt like the next step in creating a space for “exploration, exercise and real-world social interaction,” spawning a “global community of fans united by their shared experience.”

“Almost five years ago Niantic launched Ingress, our first augmented reality mobile game, turning real-world streets, neighbourhoods and cities into a global game board, and bringing people together in a shared digital reality,” Niantic CEO and Founder John Hanke wrote. “Pokemon Go brought that vision to the world at unprecedented scale and served as a catalyst for the further development of the Niantic platform.”

As Hanke further explains, in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players will learn spells and explore their real world surroundings to discover and battle legendary beasts, teaming up with other players to take down powerful enemies. It’s unclear how faithful it will be to the original series or if characters will make cameos, but we expect to see some form of Team Instinct-Valor-Mystic dynamic with Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.

According to TechCrunch, Harry Potter: Wizards United is expected to release in 2018.
